A Tradition of Wheels Lives On In Motown.

Just when you thought all was lost, Detroit starts a comeback, with bicycles and watches.
That’s right. It isn’t a four wheeled Ford or Chrysler, but rather a Schwinn inspired high end bicycle leads the pack.
Shinola is a company that manufactures precision equipment – both watches and bicycles – in Detroit. According to their website, the company believes “there’s not just history in Detroit, there is a future”
Nate from Turin, the trendy Chicago bike shop just steps from the Damen stop on the Brown Line, tells me that his place “is one of only four bike shops in the nation to carry this exclusive, Detroit made machine”.
Watch-like craftsmanship is an understatement. This piece of machinery is like none other. Literally like a Swiss watch, or a Detroit made watch. Accents in copper give the ride a uniquely retro look, with just a hint of steampunk.
Let’s call it a melding of Swiss Watches and Detroit Heavy Metal.
